Brandon "Bam" MargeraThe one of the biggest fans of HIM in USA is Bam Margera who's known of his program Jackass distributed by MTV. Jackass shows dangerous tricks that's from 'don't do this at home-scene', for example they drive downhill with shopping waggons... He is also very popular and well-known skateboarder. He uses heartagram on his skateboards and heartagram is shown also in Jackass. He got the part of the same tattoos that Ville have and that's OK for Ville, it's only sharing not stealing, he said about Bam's tattoos. He also played HIM and Daniel Lioneye on his program. Razorblade Romance is the album that made his addiction for HIM. He find comments about the album from the official website of HIM and he liked it. Later when he arrived to Europe with his skateboards he bought the album and after that he must have to get everything that's associated to HIM. Bam Margera organized the gig in Philadelphia for HIM in august 2001. It happened in preview showing of movie named CKY3. The film was directed and produced by Bam. CKY3 includes a video from Right Here In My Arms and in DVD-version of film were added a version of Rebel Yell from the concert in Philadelphia. Bam Margera is a reason why the logos of HIM are used in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3-playstationgame. HIM is also very popular in skateboard-scene in some countries, thanks for Bam. Bam is very good friend of the band and he directed two videos for the songs from Love Metal. Buried Alive By Love was shot at december 2002 in Los Angeles and other video for The Sacrament was shot at spring 2003 nearby Prague in Czech Republic. In january 2004 he directed 2 videos more for HIM. Tracks were 'Solitary Man' and 'And Love Said No'. Videos were shot in Philadelphia and Los Angeles. Bam Margera has selected some bands for a collection released in july 21st, 2005. Collection is titled as Viva La Bands
and it contains bands from Finland, Scandinavia and Great Britain. Only that comes outside of Europe is CKY (Bam's brother
Jess plays in the band). Bam wants to help European bands to get more attention and airplay in United States. Finnish bands
in collection are HIM (of course!), The Rasmus, Daniel Lioneye (another 'of course'), The 69 Eyes, Negative, Children Of
Bodom and Smack. Among other things there is tracks from Turbonegro, Cradle Of Filth and D-A-D.
In summer 2005 Bam filmed his visit to Finland and Estonia for his MTV-program Viva La Bam and there were guests like Ville and Jussi (69 Eyes-drummer). There is some shots from the festivalgig of HIM in Finland and some kind of hanging and travelling. Bam tried to find his old friend from St. Petersburg (Russia), but this friend finally was found from Finland after few of trips (and small unlucky incidents) by Bam. Bandmembers are visiting in the other directions...Somewhere in the end of 1996 Ville sang backing vocals in the 69 Eyes' album Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams. In the end of 1998 Ville singed backing vocals on 69 Eyes' album 'Wasting the Dawn'. He also give the pre-productions of vocals and the redwine guidance for the album. In 1999 there were shot a film called Badding (some kind of fictive fairy-tale of singer Somerjoki) and in the film was few of frames where was a band behind Badding and two members of that band was Pätkä and Burton. Before their second album the band was guest with other finnish bands in the video of Neljä Ruusua from the song 'Hunningolla'. Ville also sings three songs of Rauli Badding Somerjoki with the Agents in the TV-show called 'Laulava Sydän'. Songs been lately released on album with other visiting finnish singers. Both visits happened in winter/spring 1999. In later july 2000 Ville singed two surprise performances with the material of Rauli Badding Somerjoki. That happened in two evenings in the center of Lahti at restaurant called Teerenpeli. The band contains musicians from Lahti. Ville sang backing vocals again with the 69 Eyes. New 69 Eyes' record 'Blessed Be' released in Finland september 2000. Finnish singer Tuomari Nurmio will be fifty in november 2000. There was released a album for him and Ville is singing song 'Valo Yössä'. Song is dedication to Nurmio and his father. Father of Ville was a taxidriver when Ville was a little boy and he played it always and it becomes also important song to Ville in his youth. Ville was one visiting singer in the reunion gig of finnish gothband Musta Paraati at Tavastia Club, Helsinki in march 23rd 2001. The original singer of Musta Paraati died in early 1990's and his name was Jore. There was also talkings about tributealbum. Guitarist Linde has released a soloalbum in may 2001 under his pseudonym Daniel Lioneye. He did some festivalgigs in Finland with the combination called the Rollers. Rollers contains members of few finnish rockbands. Ville plays drums and Mige is on his bass on Daniel Lioneye's record. Record will be released in Germany at the end of november 2001. Band recorded one track called 'Rendezvous With Anus' for Turbonegro-tributealbum 'Alpha Motherfuckers' and the record is going to release at the end of june 2001. Musicmagazine Visions from Germany titled it album of the month and they also called HIM-track best coversong that HIM have recorded. Ville sang backing vocals in Five Fifteen-album 'Death Of A Clown' (released in fall 2001). Five Fifteen is band from Helsinki and it plays psychedelic rock in the spirit of 1960's and 1970's. Burton plays additional keyboards in Sub-Urban Tribe's self-titled album which is released in october 2001. Ville appears in calendar that includes 12 finnish rock'n'roll-persons. Calendar is going for sale in november 2001 and the income of sales goes for charity. Ville sang backing vocals in 69 Eyes-album 'Paris Kills' that's released in april 2002.
Singer of Stratovarius (Timo Kotipelto) released his solodebut in spring 2002 and Kaasu plays some drums in album. Guitarist Linde visits with his guitars in debutalbum of finnish band Ihmepoika (released in spring 2002). Band is collected from circle of friends where guys of HIM spent their youths before HIM. Burton plays some keyboards in singletrack 'I Need A Kiss' by Torpedo and Ville sang backing vocals in the album of Lowe Motor Corporation in track called 'Love Me'. Both of these visits happened in the spring 2003. The second album of Timo Kotipelto is going to release in April 2004 and Kaasu plays drums on the record. The 69 Eyes released album called 'Devils' in the autumn 2004 and Ville sang backing vocals on it. Ville sang backing vocals under pseudonym Lux Airam on the Skreppers-album Call Of The Trash. Album was released in autumn 2004. Bendover (sideproject of Kaasu) released their debutalbum at September 21st 2005. Album is titled as Roll Over! Play Dead! and introduced us music influenced by Entombed and Motörhead. Album is released by Udai Records (the homecompany of Skreppers), parties of releasing happens in Semifinal (Helsinki) 3 days after releasedate. Bloodhound Gang released album Hefty Fine at September 28th 2005 and Ville sings vocals on the track titled as Something Diabolical. Cradle Of Filth released album Thornography at October 18th 2006, Ville sings vocals on the track titled as The Byronic Man. Universal Music Group Finland releases at November 22nd 2006 (However, the 30th birthday of Ville!) the album titled as Synkkien Laulujen Maa ('The land of the gloomy songs'). In album is two songs where Ville sings, album starts with 'Kun Minä Kotoani Läksin' ('When I Left My Home'), there is also a duet with Finnish crooner Kari Tapio in 'Täällä Pohjantähden Alla' ('Here, Underneath The Northern Star') traditional song that's been made to be a famous song in Finland by Tapio Rautavaara (one of the greatest favourites of Finnish artists for Ville). Ville recorded a duet with German soap opera star Natalia Avelon on a song that will be included on the soundtrack to the movie '8 Miles High' about the life of Uschi Obermaier (played by Natalia). The track 'Summer Wine' will be released as single in January 2007. Manna (Linde's wife and Olivia's mother) is releasing her debutalbum Sister at May 9th 2007, Linde's playing guitars on her band and Ville is guest starring in a duet for a track called 'Just For Tonight'. Behind the production is also names behind The Soundtrack Of Our Lives and Scandinavian Group. More information about Manna from here... Other bands/projects plays the music of HIMFinnish humourband Eläkeläiset made a coverversion of 'Join Me' in the autumn 2000. The song is retitled 'Humppasonni' and it's played in humppastyle which is oldfashioned finnish musicstyle. The remixversion of 'Join Me' by the German Lightforce climbed to position 15 in American Billboard's dance/clubchart in the spring 2002. Gregorian made their own version of 'Join Me' and the album that contains other famous hits with many artists was released in the end of 2002. Gregorian is group that makes the versions from the hits of other artists and they're singing with "medieval monkchoir"-style. The vocals in their version of 'Join Me' was sang by Sarah Brightman. Finnish bluegrass-quartet Jussi Syren And The Groundbreakers releases an album with acoustic versions of HIM-tracks on November 16th 2005 on Bluelight Records. Heartagrass - An Acoustic Tribute To HIM is a fourth album of Syren and previous releases contained only the originals of Syren and his band. More information in Jussi Syren's website . The band gets award, trophies, prizes and attention...In autumn 2000 Ville was voted most stylish pop-person in Finland by listeners of Radiomafia. He was superior and gets multiple number of votes than anyone else. End of the october BMG was choosed to a recordcompany of the year and Seppo Vesterinen was choosed to a manager of the year 2000 in Finland. HIM wins two prizes from Germany in autumn 2000. Prizes are allowed from Viva (German music-channel) and ZDF (German national TV-channel) in common. HIM gets prizes from most desired video and HIM was channel's most wanted band. HIM puts its videoprize to sell by auction. Auction was kept in internet at the end of the year 2000. Resources of auction is going for children's neurological ward of Helsinki academic central hospital. In february 2001 at finnish Emma Awards HIM won two categories - the band of the year and the album of the year.
In the april 2001 has the readers of finnish weekmagazine Seepra voted finnish allstars band and Ville was choosed to a
singer. The other 'members' of the band is guitarist Albert Järvinen and drummer Remu Aaltonen (both from Hurriganes) and
basist Pekka Pohjola (known from Wigwam). Voters choosed also alternative fifth member for the band and he was pianoplayer
Lenni-Kalle Taipale. The number of voters was 1067 readers of Seepra.
HIM won the Viewers' Choice Award at the Viva Comet Awards in august 2001. The award was presented by Iggy Pop who was one of the biggest heroes of the band. Seppo Vesterinen was choosed to the manager of the year in Finland at the end of the october 2001. Vesterinen received same status also in 2000. HIM won 'vientiemma' (best exporter of the year 2001) from finnish Emma-awards in march 2002. HIM played one song live (Heartache Every Moment) in Emma-awards. Seppo Vesterinen was choosed to the manager of the year in Finland at the end of the october 2003 in Industry Awards-Gala. It was a third time when Seppo received that title for being a force behind HIM. In the end of January 2004 Kerrang (the most biggest rockmagazine in the world) choosed Ville for biggest sexsymbol at this moment, same magazine choosed also Love Metal in third place on the list of albums made in year 2003 and HIM was in fifth place in the cathegory of the best bands. Magazine called Hammer made two different versions from its number of january 2004 with Ville in frontcover. Seppo Vesterinen was choosed to the manager of the year in Finland at the end of the october 2004 in Industry Awards-Gala. Nowadays Seppo leads also another finnish successful rockband called The Rasmus. |
